Fractional, moving to permanent
Financial strategy, commodities finance, international taxation and fundraising — across several jurisdictions, not one.
Careers
Nelum is building compliance and market-access infrastructure for artisanal and small-scale mining and the wider commodities sector. We are strengthening the senior team and hiring across finance, legal, operations, engineering and compliance.
Every role is described on its own page: what it is accountable for, the candidate we are looking for, and how we would engage.
Finance, legal and operations — built for more than one jurisdiction from the outset.

Fractional, moving to permanent
Mining law, commodities law, international trade and tax law — the legal architecture of a business that operates across several jurisdictions at once.
Day-to-day financial operations, tax administration and reporting.
Full-time or part-time
Accurate day-to-day financial operations, Nigerian tax administration and management reporting, working closely with the CFO.
Bringing commodity businesses onto the platform and keeping them active on it.
Full-time
Bringing exporters, refiners, buyers' compliance teams and the services around them onto the platform, from first conversation to an active, verified account.
The platform, the record it holds and the systems that protect it.
Full-time
The AI inside the platform: an assistant that answers from cited reference data, document reading, and search — each bounded by what the model is allowed to return.
Full-time
Protecting identity documents, company records and the audit trail — across the application, the cloud platform and the vendors around it.
Verifying the businesses that join, and keeping the record honest.
Full-time
Verifying that a company is what it says it is, identifying who owns and controls it, and screening it before it takes a seat on the platform.
Nelum is a technology company building compliance-as-a-service and market-access infrastructure for artisanal and small-scale mining and the wider commodities sector. The platform helps licensed miners, mining cooperatives and commodity businesses become verified, compliant and buyer-ready, and improves transparency, traceability and responsible sourcing across international supply chains.
The platform is built to operate internationally. It is commodity-agnostic and corridor-based: a new producing country or a new material is a configuration of the same system rather than a separate build. The commodity scope is precious metals; tin, tantalum and tungsten; battery and technical metals; precious stones; and oil.
Our first corridor is Nigeria to Dubai, and our first material is gold — chosen because it is the hardest provenance environment in commodities. The company is structured for that reach from the outset: a UK parent, an intended operating entity in Dubai, engineering resourced internationally, and field operations beginning in Nigeria. The public platform runs in English, Arabic and Chinese.
We are not looking for generic corporate hires. We want people who understand the whole commodities chain — and understand it as a chain that crosses borders, not one that stops at a national boundary.
The question we ask every candidate
Experience in the UAE, the UK, Nigeria and wider Africa is valuable, as is experience of international commodity centres — Geneva, Zurich, Singapore, London, Johannesburg and Hong Kong. We are equally interested in diaspora candidates who want to work on an African commodities corridor from Dubai or London.
We are open to full-time, part-time, fractional, interim and consultancy-to-permanent arrangements. For the CFO and Chief Legal Officer we are particularly open to starting fractionally and moving to a permanent executive role as Nelum scales.
The chance to join an early-stage technology company building infrastructure for the international commodities ecosystem. Senior hires will not inherit existing departments; they will build them:
