Legal Supplement Part B-Vol. 37, No. 55-26th March, 1998 LEGAL NOTICE No. 121 REPUBLIC OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO THE FISHERIES Am, CHAP. 67:51 REGULATIONS MADE BY THE MINISTER UNDER SECTION 4 OF THE FISHERIES ACT THE FISHERIES (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1998 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Fisheries (Amendment) Citation Regulations, 1998. 209 2. In these Regulations "the Regulations" means the Fisheries Interpretation Regulations. Chap, 67:51 3. Regulation 2(1)(a) of the Regulations is amended by deleting the ReguJation2 amended words "Mesh not to be less than one and three-quarter :inches square." and substituting the words ''Diagonal stretch mesh not to be less than four inches to be increased to a minimum of four point seven five inches within a period of three years.". 4. The Regulations are amended by inserting after regulation 2 the ~•g,1I•tion 2A inserted following new regulation: "Restrictions 2A. (1) No person shall import monofilament nets except mono/llament nets for use in the catching of flying fish. (2) No person shall following the expiration of two years from the date of publication of these Regulations, use monofilament nets, except for catching flying fish.". 5. The Regulations are amended by inserting after regulation 7 the Regulations inserted following new regulation: "Restriction on operation of certain boats/vessels 8. (1) A person operating a commercial multi-gear boat shall not do so within a distance of two nautical miles from the coast line. (2) A person operating an artisanal vessel or a vessel for recreational purposes shall be permitted to do so within a distance of two nautical miles from the coast line.". 210 Regulation 9 inserted The Fisheries (Amendment) Regulations, 1998 6. The Regulations are amended by inserting after the new regulation 8 the following new regulation: "Re-scorch and training 9. These Regulations do not apply to any person who holds a licence or other relevant permission from the Minister to undertake research and training within the areas covered by these Regulations.".
