Explanatory note This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect. This notice is made under the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Regulations 1998 (the regulations). It comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette. The notice relates to a customary food gathering area/rohe moana of the tangata whenua of Rongomaiwahine, represented by the Mahia Maori Committee. The area/ rohe moana is an area from Paritu to Waikokopu at Mahia. Notice is given of the appointment of a replacement Tangata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for the area/rohe moana. The appointee replaces the late Valletta Wairau, whose appointment was cancelled in 2012 (see the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Notice (No. 1) 2012 (Gazette 2012, p 1310)). The Minister for Primary Industries made the replacement appointment at the request of the Mahia Maori Committee. The powers of Tāngata Kaitiaki/Tiaki are set out in the regulations.
