2678 Government Notices 2021 Government Notice No. 309 of 2021 THE ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION ACT Regulations made by the Minister under section 96 of the Environment Protection Act 1. These regulations may be cited as the Environment Protection (Control of Single Use Plastic Products) (Amendment) Regulations 2021. 2. In these regulations – “principal regulations” means the Environment Protection (Control of Single Use Plastic Products) Regulations 2020. 3. Regulation 2 of the principal regulations is amended by inserting, in the appropriate alphabetical order, the following new definition – “modified atmosphere packaging” means a preservation technique in which the composition of the atmosphere of a package of food is modified so that its composition is different from air; 4. Regulation 17 of the principal regulations is amended by revoking paragraph (2) and replacing it with the following paragraph – (2) Notwithstanding paragraph (1), regulation 4 in so far as it relates to – (a) a non-biodegradable single use plastic bowl and non-biodegradable single use plastic cup used solely for the packaging of food products such as dairy products; and (b) non-biodegradable plastic tray used solely for the Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) of Government Notices 2021 2679 irfaan imac2/ G.Notices 2021/ The Environment Protection (Control of Single Use Plastic Prod.) (Amend) Reg 21. 17.12.2021 - 2nd Proof food such as fresh meat and pre-cooked/cooked food products, shall come into operation on 15 January 2023. 5. The Second Schedule to the principal regulations is amended – (a) by deleting the words “PART I”; (b) by revoking Part II. 6.
