The collection of the species of plants and animals listed in column (2) of the Table shall be prohibited, except with the approval of the Tamil Nadu State Biodiversity Board only for the purposes mentioned below, namely : (a) scientific research; (b) herbarium and museum of scientific and aca­ demic institutions; (c) propagation; and 3 (d) any other scientific investigation. 3. The Tamil Nadu State Biodiversity Board shall undertake : (i) studies on all aspects of the notified species for holistic understanding; (ii) propagation or the notified species for the pur­ pose of in situ and ex situ conservation ana rehabilitation; and (iii) awareness programmes and provide educa­ tional materials on notified species for forest department personnel, Biodiversity Manage­ ment Commitq:es, ecotourism programmes, and . forest dwellers and tribals.
