(1) These rules may be called the Environment (Protecti on) Second Amendment Rules, 2009 . (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. I n the Environment (Protection) Rules, 1986, in Schedule I, in serial number 73 relating to Pharmaceuticals Industry (Bulk Drugs), after the existing ent ries under columns 3 and 4, the following ent ries shall be inserted, namely: S. Scrubber meant for scrubbing erntssions shall not be used as quencher. vi. Incineration plants shall be operated (combustion chambers) with such temperature. retention time and turbulence, as to achieve Total Organic Carbon (TOC) content in the incineration ash and residue less than 3%, and tl1eir loss on ignition is less than 5% of the dry weight. In case of non-conformity. ash and/o r residue shall be re-incineratcd. Vii. Storm water shall be channelized through separate drains passing through a HDPE lined pit having holdil'lg capacity of 10 minutes (hourly average) of rainfall. IV. The built up In Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) In wastewater of floor washings shall not exceed 1000 mg/l over and above the TDS of raw water used . v. Effluent shall not be stored 111 holding tank(s) in such manner which may cause pollution to groundwater. " vi.
