ASSAM ACT NO. XLV OF 2021 (Received the assent of the Governor on 24th January, 2022) THE DEORI AUTONOMOUS COUNCIL (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2021 160 THE ASSAM GAZETTE, EXTRAORDINARY, JANUARY 28, 2022 AN ACT to amend the Deori Autonomous Council Ac.t, 2005. Preamble \Vhereas it is expedient further to amend the Deori Assam Autonomous Council Act, 2005, hereinafter referred to as Act-No. the principaJ Act, in the manner hereinafter appearing; XXV It is hereby enacted in the Seventy-second year of the of 2005 Republic of India as follows:- Short title, I. ( I ) This Act may be caHed the Deori Autonomous extent and Council (Amendment) Act, 2021. commencement (2) lL sha11 have the like extent as the principal Act. In the principal Act, in section 6, for sub-section (I), section 6 the following shall be substituted, namely :- "( 1) Constitution of the General Council :- The General Council shall consist of 26 (twenty-six) members of which 22 (twenty two) shall be directly elected and 4 ( four) shall b~ nominated by the Government with the concurrence of the Autonomous Counci I from amongst the areas/groups/communities residing in the Council area and not otherwise represented in the Genera] Council. Out of 22 (twenty-two) eats, 18 ( eighteen) scats shall be reserved for Scheduled Tribe, 3(three) seats shall be reserved for women and l (one) eal shal I be reserved for General community." THE ASSAM GAZE17'E, EXTRAORDINARY, JANUARY 28, 2022 161 Amendment of 3. In the principal Act, for section l 5, the following spaJJ section 15 be substituted, namely:- ".) 5. Quorum:- The quorum necessary for transaction of business at a meeting of the General Council shall be 13 (thirteen) members and the decision of the General Council shall be by a single majority of votes of the members present.,, Amendment of 4. In the principal Act, in section 48, in sub-section (2), in section 48 first line, for the figure and word "26 (twenty-six)" appearing in between the words «shall be" and «constituencies" the figure and words "22 (twenty- Lwo )" shall be substituted.

Repeal and 5. ( l) The Deori utonomou Council ( mendment) sa ings Ordinance, 20::! l (. s am Ordinance o. Ill of 2021 ) is hereby repealed. (2) Notwithstanding uch repeal any order passed, notification issued, anything done or any action taken under the Ordinance o repealed, shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the corresponding provisions of the principal Act as amended by this ct.
