(S) Any reference in any law of the Republic of The Gambia to “territonal waters” shall be corsinved as if it were a reference to "territorial sea’, PART il — TERRITORIAL SEA, CONTIGUOUS ZONE AND EXCLUSIVE ECONOMIC ZONE 3. Breadth of the torritorial sea The breadth of the territorial sea of the Republic of The Gambia shall be tweive nautical miles, measured from the baseline determined in Annex 1 [Frat Scheddo) Manitime Zones Act, 2019 4, Outer limit of the territorial sea The outer linvit of the territorial sea of the Republic of tha Garnbia shall be the line determined in Annex 2. (erenat Served. ยง, Legal status of the territorial sea, of the air space over the territorial sea, and of its seabed and subsoil (1) The sovereignty of the Republic of The Gambia extends io its territorial sea, to the air space over the torritoriat sea, as well as to its Seabeo and subsoil, (2) The sovereignty over the terntorial sea is exercesed subject to felevant provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and to other rules of international law. 6. Contiguous zone (1) The Republic of The Gambia shall have a contiguous zone beyond its territorial sea extencing up to twenty four nautcal miles, measured from tha baseline determined in Annex 1 (2} The outer limit of the contguous zone of the Republic of The Gambia shail be the line determined in Annex 3. (Thid Scheasta] (3) In the contiguous zone, the Republic of The Gambia may exercise the control necessary to (3) prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws and regulations within its territory or feriitorial sea; and {b}) punish infringement of whe abows flaws an reguiations committed within its territory or territorial sea. 7. Exclusive economic zone (1) The Republic of The Gambia shall have an exclusive economic zone beyond and adjacent to the territorial sea extending up to two hundred nautical miles measured from the baseline determined in Annex 4 {2} The outer limit line of the exclusive economic zone of the Republic of The Gambia shall be the line determined in Annex 4 combined with any line determined in accordance with section 9 below. [Puath Scrediusu} 3 Maritime Zones Act, 2019 {3} The rights, jurisdiction and duties of the Republic of The Gambia In the exctusive economic zone shall be governed by the relevant provisions of the United Nations Carvention on the Law of the Sea and other rules of Regional and International law to which The Gambia is 8 party. PART Ill - MISCELLANEOUS 8 Internal waters The waters on the landward side of the baseline determined in Annex 1 form part of the internal waters of the Republic of The 9.
