CT5 The Animal Welfare (Amendment) (No.2) Regulations, 2017 Made Coming into operation Laid before the States 30'h October, 2017 30'h October, 2017 , 2017 THE COMMITTEE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT & INFRASTRUCTURE, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by sections 10(1) and 79 of the Anirnal Welfare (Guemsey) Ordinance, 20l2a, and all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations: Amendment of the Animal Welfare (Slaughter, Killing, Euthanasia Etc.) (Prescribed Animals) Regulations, 2014. 1. In Schedule 2 (animals prescribed as game animals) to the Animal Welfare (Slaughter, Killing, Euthanasia Etc.) (Prescribed Animals) Regulations, 20l4b, add the following reference to Eurasian Woodcock in the first and second colum?ns "Eurasian Woodcock (Scolopax rusticola)". a Ordinance No. III of 2012; amended by Order in Council No. XVI of 2015; Ordinance No. IX of 2016; G.S.I. Nos. 32 of 2014 and 24 of 2017. b G.S.I. No. 30 of 2014; amended by Ordinance No. IX of 2016; G.S.I. No. 24 of 2017. l Revocation. 2. Article 3 of the Anirnal Welfare (Amendment) Regulations, 20l7c, is revoked. Interpretation. 3. (1) The Interpretation (Guemsey) Law, 1948d applies to the interpretation of these Regulations. (2) Any reference in these Regulations to an enactment is a reference thereto as from time to time amended, re-enacted (with or without modification), extended or applied. Citation and commencement. 4. These Regulations may be cited as the Animal Welfare (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 2017 and shall come into force on the 30'h day of October, 2017. No. 24 of 2017. d Ordres ell Conseil Vol. XIII, p. 355. 2 EXPLANATORY NOTE (This ;izote is not part of the Regulations) Section 10(1) of the Animal Welfare (Guernsey) Ordinance, 2012 provides for exceptions to certain animal welfare offences in relation to the hunting, capture or killing of any animal prescribed as a game animal providing that the same are carried out in accordance with prescribed requirements as to the methods, techniques, equipment or devices etc. to be used. The Animal Welfare (Slaughter, Killing, Euthanasia Etc.) (Prescribed Animals) Regulations, 2014 prescribes those game animals. The Animal Welfare (Amendment) Regulations, 2017 removed Eurasian Woodcock from the list of prescribed game animals. Regulation 1 of these Regulations amends the prescribed list of game animals to return the Eurasian Woodcock to the list of prescribed game animals so that the exceptions from certain animal welfare offences -apply to the hunting, capture or killing of that bird. These Regulations come into force on the 30'h day of October, 2017. 3
