A PROCLAMATION TO RATIFY THE KYOTO PROTOCOL ON THE REDUCTION OF GREENHOUSE GAASES WHEREAS, the Kyoto Protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate change, was adopted on December, 1997. WHEREAS, the House of Peoples' Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has ratified said protocol at its session on the 1st day of February, 2005; NOW, THEREFORE, in accordance with Article 55 ( 1) and ( 12) of the Constitution, of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, it is here by proclaimed as follows: 1. Page 3052 2. Ratification of the Protocol The Kyoto Protocol on the reduction of greenhouse gases, adopted on December 1977, is ratified. 3. Responsibility of the Environmental Protection Authority The Environmental Protection Authority is hereby authorized to take, in cooperation with the appropriate Federal, Regional and City Administration Government organs, actions necessary to implement the Protocol. 4. Effective Date This Proclamation shall enter into force on the 21 st day of February 2005. Done at Addis Ababa, this 21 st day of February 2005.
