No. 68) BELIZE: Fisheries STATUTORY INSTRUMENT No. 68 of 1997 REGULATIONS made by the Mini.i.ter of Agriculture and Fisheries in exercise of the powers coil/erred upon him by section 13 of the Fi.i.heries Act, Chapter 174 of the Laws of Belize, Revised Edition 1980.:.]99·0, and all other power.i. thereunto him enabling. (Gazetted 19tli July, 1997.) 1. These Regulations may be cited as the FISHERIES (AMENDMENT) (NO. 2) REGULATIONS, 1997, and shall be read and construed as one with the Fisheries Regulations which, as amended, are hereinafter referred to as the principal Regulations. 2. Regulation 3 of the principal Regulations is hereby amended by the addition of the following as subregulation (2), the existing Regulation being renumbered as subregulation (1) accordingly: "(2) Nothwithstanding the provisions of subregulation (1) above Short title. Fi.1theries /No. 68 ·-· ·---- ·-------' (ll) crawfish with a cape length of less than 3 inches may be taken in the waters of Belize for aquaculture purposes under a special licence granted by the Minister; (b) crawfish that is berried, (has eggs), may be taken in the waters of Belize for acquaculturc purposes under a special licence granted by the Minister." 3. Regulation 5 A of the principal Rc!:,1tdations is hereby amended by the addition of the following as subrcgulations (3) and (4) immediately after subregulation (2) as follows : "(3) No person shall set or leave in the waters of Belize any lobster traps between the 15th day of February and the 14th day of June, inclusive, in any year, without a special permit granted by the Minister. (4) Where any trap which is set or left contrary to subregulation (3) above is found, the Fisheries Administrator shall have authority to remove and dispose of such trap as he secs fit, without prejudice to any other penalty which the offender may be liable to under the law."
