Ask the research
Swiss-refined bars (kilobars and 400 oz Good Delivery) moving to London. The UK-Switzerland Trade Agreement (a continuity agreement) covers the pair, but no gold-specific provision or preference was found and both sides treat gold as duty-free or unconfirmed-zero, so the pair gets ordinary treatment. The only pair-relevant control is the UK ban on third-country processed gold containing post-July-2022 Russian gold. Flows are large in both directions and the two sides' statistics classify the bars differently.

Where practice departs from the law
What credible sources show happening that the law does not provide for.
The two sides record the same flow under different subheadings: Switzerland reports bars to the UK almost entirely as unwrought gold (710812), the UK reports them almost entirely as semi-manufactured gold (710813). Summed over both codes the gap is about 24 t in 2024 (CH 151.5 t out, UK 127.5 t in).
