Ask the research
Swiss-refined kilobars (SGE-standard) moving to Mainland China, the largest single destination for Swiss gold exports in 2024. A bilateral China-Switzerland FTA (2014) exists and an upgrade was concluded in August 2026, but no gold-specific concession was found and China's own duty rate on 7108 was not confirmed; import runs on China-wide rules (PBoC per-batch permit, SGE first trade). No pair-specific control found. China's figures exceed Switzerland's by about 200 t, consistent with China recording Swiss-refined bars shipped via London and Hong Kong under Swiss origin.

Where practice departs from the law
What credible sources show happening that the law does not provide for.
China records about 211 t more from Switzerland than Switzerland records sending (2024). China attributes imports to origin: it records 0.58 t from the UK while the UK reports 382.8 t of 710813 exports to China, so Swiss-refined bars routed via London (and Hong Kong) are likely counted as Swiss-origin in China's data.
Figures: CN 553 t vs CH 336 t (2024)
