No bilateral gold instrument found. The UAE-Mali cooperation made public in May 2025 was on defence and energy, with no statement on gold. The pair gets ordinary treatment. Mali declared 12.2% of its 2025 gold exports as going to the UAE, but UAE-reported imports from Mali are many times Mali's declared exports: 77 t against 0.9 t at HS 710812 in 2023.

Couriers hand-carry an average of 10 kg per trip on Bamako-Dubai flights, and some traffickers move up to 40 kg a week. In 2016 the UAE recorded US$1.52bn of imports from Mali against US$216m of recorded Malian exports. Mali also serves as a platform for gold from neighbouring countries (an estimated 80% of the artisanal gold in its supply chain comes from Senegal) and from Libya and Venezuela.
مصدر ثانويغير مسجَّلLegal channel for Malian gold to the UAE: every export needs the prior authorisation of Mali's Minister of Finance or another competent authority (Règlement 06/2024 art. 20; mining companies holding an exploitation and export licence are exempt from the request, Annex X), and artisanal or small-mine gold may be exported only by OMASP since 10 Apr 2026 (Ord. 2026-013 art. 3). Travellers may carry gold objects only up to 500 g without authorisation (art. 20). Flows recorded by the UAE far above Mali's declared exports therefore fall outside this channel.
