National Forests Act: Declaration of state forests in Mpumalanga as forest nature reserves under section 8(1) of the National Forests Act, 1998 (No. R. 673 of 2013)

DECLARATION STATE FORESTS IN MPUMALANGA AS FOREST NATURE RESERVES UNDER SECTION 8(1) OF THE NATIONAL FORESTS ACT, 1998 (ACT NO. 84 OF 1998) By virtue of powers vested in me under Section 8(1) of the National Forests Act,1998 (Act No 84 of 1998) hereinafter referred to as "the Act"), I, Tina Joemat Pettersson, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries hereby declare State forest properties in Mpumalanga as forest nature reserves as set out in Schedule A. The effect of this declaration is that in terms of Section 10(1) of the Act, no person may cut, disturb damage or destroy any forest produced in, or remove or receive any forest produce from, a protected area, except under rules made for the proper management of the area, servitude right, license or exemption granted by the Minister. A person who contravenes this declaration, commits a second category offence in terms of section 62(2)(a) of the Act and is liable on a first conviction for that offence to a fine or imprisonment for a period of up to two years, or to both a fine and such imprisonment.
