The Institute has the following main tasks: To work out and 111atcrialize the short-term and long-term plans for scientific and technological research. ,,atcr resources dcyc)opmcnt: To conduct the oriented basic research and research for subsequent application in scientific technological and marketing fields. and review the specialized ,,atcr resources studies in seryicc of research and social Ii fe: To transfer technologies and build up experimental models: to provide project construction designing. consultancy and investment serYices as \\ell as to produce and trade in products turned out from the Institute ·s research activities and the technical adv,mces according to the Ministry·s and the State·s regulations: To take part in or assume the prime responsibility for the elaboration of processes, mies and economic-technical standards and norms: to formulate the branch's lllanagcmenl llleehanism and rclc, ant regimes and policies on scientific grounds, then propose them to the competent authorities for promulgation: To train cadres of post-graduate le, cl and take part in training cadres of university level in ,rater resources according to the State·s plan and authorization: To establish cooperation and joint venture with scientific and technological research institutions. production and/or business establishments \\ithin and \\ithout the branch in order to solve the inter branch scientific and teclmological matters in the field of ,,ater resources: To establish scientific and technological cooperation \\ith foreign organizations and indiYiduals according lo the Sta1e·s current 9
