Animal Diseases (Amendment) Act 2002 Section 1 Act 10 of 2002 to Page 1 C T ANIMAL DISEASES (AMENDMENT) ACT 2002 Act 10 of 2002 AN ACT TO AMEND THE ANIMAL DISEASES ACT I assent, TAUFA‘AHAU TUPOU IV, 14th October, 2002 [22nd of July 2002] BE IT ENACTED by the King and Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows: 1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Animal Diseases (Amendment) Act 2002. (2) The Animal Diseases Act (Cap 146), as amended, is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act. 2. Section 2 of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the comma and the words “Forests and Fisheries” from the definition of the word “Director” and the word “Minister” and substituting therefore the word “and Forestry”. 3. Section 4(5) of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the word “Minister” and substituting therefor the word “Director”. Section 4 Animal Diseases (Amendment) Act 2002 Act 10 of 2002 Page 2 to 4. Section 13(1) of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the words “from time to time” and substituting therefor the words “with the consent of Cabinet”. 5. Section 14 of the Principal Act is amended by — (a) deleting the word “Director” and substituting therefor the word “Minister”; and (b) (i) deleting the figure “$2000” and substituting therefor the figure “$5000”; and (ii) deleting the words “3 months” and substituting therefor the words “2 years”. 6. Section 16(4) of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the word “Minister” and substituting therefor the word “Director”. 7. Section 16(7) of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the figure “$1000” and substituting therefor the figure “$2000”. 8. Section 18(5) of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the figure “$200” and substituting therefor the figure “$1000”. 9. Section 21(7) of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the figure “$1000” and substituting therefor the figure “$5000”. 10. Section 23(4) of the Principal Act is amended by — (a) deleting the figure “$500” and substituting therefor the figure “$2000”; and (b) deleting the figure “$20” and substituting therefor the figure “$50”. 11. Section 24 of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the figure “$100” and substituting therefor the figure “$1000”. 12. Section 27 of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the figure “$100” and substituting therefor the figure “$1000”. 13. (a) Section 28(1) of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the words “from time to time” and substituting therefor the words “with the consent of Cabinet”. Section 29(1) and (2) of the Principal Act are deleted and substituted by the following “The Minister shall designate from the staff of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry from time to time such Inspectors for the purposes of this Act.” 15. Section 33 of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the figure “$200” and substituting therefor the figure “$1000”. 16. Section 35 of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the figure “$200” and substituting therefor the figure “$1000”. 17. Section 36(2) of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the figure “$200” and substituting the figure “$2000”. Passed by the Legislative Assembly this 22nd day of July, 2002.
