Box 116 Koror, Palau Western Caroline Islands 96940 KOROR MUNICIPAL COUNCIL ORDINANCE NO. 112-79 AN ORDINANCE Creating a Koror Municipal Public Lands Authority BE IT ORDAINED BY THE KOROR MUNICIPAL COUNCIL: Section 1. Creation of Koror Municipal Public Lands Authority. Pursuant to the authority set forth in Palau District Public Law No. 5-8-10, there is hereby created a Koror Municipal Public Lands Authority (hereinafter referred to as the Authority). Section 2. Purpose. The Authority is created to receive from the Palau District Public Lands Authority such public lands within Koror's geographical boundaries, either in whole or in part or by particular parcels, as it deems is in the best interests of the people of Koror. Section 3. Membership. The Authority shall be governed by a Board of Trustees consisting of the paramount hereditary chief, the mayor, three (3) persons appointed by the mayor with the advice and consent of the Koror Municipal Council and three (3) persons appointed by the paramount chief with the advice and consent of his traditional chiefs' council. Section 4. Rules and Regulations. The Authority shall make such rules and regulations that may be necessary and proper to carry out the provisions of this Ordinance. Section 5. Powers and Duties. The Authority shall have such rights, interests, powers, responsibilities, duties and obligations as may be granted to it by the Palau District Public Land Authority. ORDINANCE NO. 112-79 Section 6. Request for Conveyance of Public Lands. The Authority is hereby delegated the authority to formally request the Palau District Public Lands Authority to convey to the Authority such public lands in Koror Municipality either in whole or in part or by particular parcels as the Authority deems is in the best interests of the people of Koror Municipality. Section 7. Repeal. Any and all appointments or nominations of persons to work on any prior committees or authorities established to carry out the Authority's functions are hereby cancelled and any such prior organizations are terminated. Section 8. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall become effective upon its approval by the District Administrator or upon its becoming law without such approval.
