  1. EIGHTH KOROR STATE LEGISLATURE KSPL No.: K8-184-2007 Second Day of Fourth Regular Session, July 12, 2007 Intro. as Bill No. 08-25, LD1 Page 1 of 4 A BILL FOR AN ACT To amend Koror State Public Law No. K6-99-99 to require boat registrations for a one year period from the date of registration instead of for one calendar year, and for related purposes. THE PEOPLE OF KOROR REPRESENTED IN THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF KOROR DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. FINDINGS. 1 The Eighth Koror State Legislature hereby finds that automobile registration is valid 2 for a period of one year from the date of registration, and that this system is fair and 3 equitable for those who obtain a vehicle during the year because they will receive the benefit 4 of a full year of registration in exchange for the full registration fee. Under the current 5 Koror State boat registration system, registration is valid for the calendar year only, so that if 6 a person obtains and registers a boat in September, the registration is only good for three 7 months before it expires. It is in the best interests of the people of the State of Koror to 8 provide for a one year boat registration period, beginning with the date of actual registration, 9 rather than requiring new registration in January of each calendar year. 10 SECTION 2. AMENDMENT OF KSPL NO. K6-99-99 RELATING TO 11 ANNUAL BOAT REGISTRATION. 12 A. Section "3.A." of KSPL No. K6-99-99 is hereby amended to read as follows: 13 "A. ‘Annual’ means the 12 month period beginning on the 14 date that a boat is actually registered." 15 B. Section "4." of KSPL No. K6-99-99 is hereby amended to read as follows: 16 "Section 4. REGISTRATION. The owner of every class of 17 motorboat requiring registration under this Act whose state of 18 principal residence is Koror shall register such motorboat and obtain 19 an annual registration number for it. If such motorboat is obtained 20 and brought into the state during the year at a date later than January 21 1, then the owner shall register it immediately with the state and 22 EIGHTH KOROR STATE LEGISLATURE KSPL No.: K8-184-2007 Second Day of Fourth Regular Session, July 12, 2007 Intro. as Bill No. 08-25, LD1 Page 2 of 4 obtain the registration 1 EIGHTH KOROR STATE LEGISLATURE KSPL No.: K8-184-2007 Second Day of Fourth Regular Session, July 12, 2007 Intro. as Bill No. 08-25, LD1 Page 3 of 4 number for it before operating it within the waters of this state.
