Fisheries (Notification of Tangata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for Te Hoe Mātaitai Reserve) Notice 2016 Pursuant to regulation 26 of the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Regulations 1998, the Director-General of the Ministry for Primary Industries gives the following notice. Contents Page 1 Title 1 2 Commencement 1 3 Mātaitai reserve 1 4 Appointment cancelled 1 5 New appointment 2 Notice 1 Title This notice is the Fisheries (Notification of Tangata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for Te Hoe Mātaitai Reserve) Notice 2016. 2 Commencement This notice comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette. 3 Mātaitai reserve This notice applies to Te Hoe Mātaitai Reserve as declared by the Fisheries (Declaration and Notification of Te Hoe Mātaitai Reserve and Appointment of Tangata Kaitiaki/Tiaki) Notice 2012 (Gazette, 2012 p 2737). 4 Appointment cancelled (1) The Minister for Primary Industries has cancelled the appointment of Sonia Pohe as a Tangata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for Te Hoe Mātaitai Reserve. (2) The cancellation took effect on 28 July 2016. 2016/182 1 http://prd-lgnz-nlb.prd.pco.net.nz/pdflink.aspx?id=DLM268654 5 New appointment (1) The Minister for Primary Industries has appointed Jenny Whaanga as a Tangata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for Te Hoe Mātaitai Reserve. (2) The appointment took effect on 28 July 2016. Dated at Wellington this 16th day of August 2016. This notice is made under the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Regulations 1998 (the regulations). It comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette. The notice relates to Te Hoe Mātaitai Reserve. The reserve is located on the southern side of the Mahia Peninsula, on the east coast of the North Island. The tangata whenua of the area that includes the reserve are represented by the Mahia Maori Committee. Notice is given of— • the cancellation of the appointment of Sonia Pohe as a Tangata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for the reserve; and • the appointment of Jenny Whaanga as a Tangata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for the reserve. The Minister for Primary Industries cancelled the appointment and made the new ap pointment under regulation 26 of the regulations. The Minister did so at the request of the Mahia Maori Committee. The powers of Tangata Kaitiaki/Tiaki are set out in the regulations. Issued under the authority of the Legislation Act 2012. Date of notification in Gazette: 18 August 2016.
