ACT To amend the Local Authorities Act, 1992 so as to make further provision for the period within which the next general election and subsequent general elections for members of local authority councils must be held. (Signed by the President on 24 April 2009) BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Republic of Namibia, as follows: Substitution of section 8 of Act No. 23 of 1992 as substituted by section 1 of Act No. 17 of 2003 1. The following section is substituted for section 8 of the Local Authorities Act, 1992 (Act No. 23 of 1992): “Dates for elections for members of the local authority councils 8. A general election for members of local authority councils shall be held not later than 30 November 2010, on a date determined by the President by proclamation in the Gazette, and thereafter at intervals not exceeding five years on a date so determined.”. Short title 2. This Act is called the Local Authorities Amendment Act, 2009. ________________
