14 LAWS OF MALAYSIA AGRICULTURAL PESTS AND NOXIOUS PLANTS (AMENDMENT) ACT 1984 An Act to amend the Agricultural Pests and Noxious Plnnta Act 1976~ [ BE IT ENACTED by the Duli Yang Maha· Mulin Seri PRduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong with the adv.ice and consent of the Dewan Negara and Dewan Rakyat iQ. Parliament assembled, and by the authority of th~ same, as follows : 1. This Act may be cited as the ,A.gricultur,al Pests and short title. Noxious Plants (Amendment) Act 1984. 2, The Agricultural Pests and Noxious Plants Act 1976 Ameruimeot which, upon the coming into forc-..e of thi•s Act. may be oflonstltlc. cited as the Plant Quamntint; Aci l 976. aud which in Act 161. this Act is referred to. as the "principal Act'\ is amended by substituting for the lbng title th~ following long title: "An Act to amend and consolidate the laws relating to the control, prevention and eradication of a$f.icU)tura) pests, noxious plants and plant diseases and to extend cu-operauon 111 the control of .the movement of pests in intern~tional trade -and for matters connected therewith " 3. (1) Subsection (1) of section 1 of the principal Act. Amendment is amended by substituting for tht: words "Agricultural ofscctlon 1. Pests and Noxious Plants Act, 1976" the words "Plant Quuantine Act 1976". (2) Upon the coming into force of thi& t\ct, ,my reference under any wriHen law ro llie Agricultural Pests and Noxious Plants Act 1976 shall be construed as a reference to the Plant ()uarn.;1tine Act 1976. Amendment 4. Section 2 of Lhe !Ji 1nt:i1>al Act is amended of section 2. Amendment of section 7, · Amendment of sectfon 8. Section 13 of the prmcipal Act is amended by Amc11d111cnl uf section inserting after subsection (4) the following subsection: 13. "(5) If in the, prol>er exercise of their function of adminislering the provision$ of thi$ Act loss or damage to plants~ goods, soil or other organisms occurs, the government and every person autho rised under this Act shall be exempted from all claims for ~:ompensatiqn for, such loss or damage.". 8.
