B 2388 L.N. 146 of 2005 VETERINARY SERVICES ACT (CAP. 437) Introductory M ethods for Sampling and Analysis for the Official Control of Feedingstuffs Rules, 2005 IN exercise of the pow ers conferred by article 25 of the V eterinary Services A ct, the M inister for R ural A ffairs and the Environm ent has m ade the follow ing rules>– 1. (1) The title of these rules is the Introductory M ethods for Sam pling and A nalysis for the O fficial C ontrol of Feedingstuffs R ules, 2005. (2) The scope of these rules is to im plem ent the rules found under European U nion C ouncil D irective 70#373#EEC . 2. (1) For the purposes of these rules “V eterinary Services” m eans the com petent authority w ithin M alta as established under article 2 of the V eterinary Services A ct. 3. The V eterinary Services shall take all m easures necessary to ensure that official controls of feedingstuffs for the purpose of checking com pliance w ith requirem ents arising under provisions laid dow n by law , regulation or adm inistrative action concerning the quality and com position of feedingstuffs, are carried out using the European C om m unity m ethods of sam pling and analysis to be established in the D irectives referred to in rule 4. 4. The m ethods referred to in rule 3 shall be established by D irective and in accordance w ith the procedure laid dow n in A rticle 3 of European U nion C ouncil D irective 70#373#EEC , account being taken of current scientific and technical know ledge and of proven m ethods.
