  1. 1. The Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement of the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, through the Department of Social Welfare, carries out social welfare services through preventative, protective and rehabilitative measures, with special attention to children, youth, women, persons with disabilities, and elderly persons. The Department of Social Welfare provides welfare services to vulnerable groups on the basis of social integration strategies. Background History

  2. 2. After participation at the Fourth World Conference on Women (Beijing, 1995), the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement established the Myanmar National Committee for Women Affairs (MNCWA) in 1996 to enhance the advancement of women, and was re-established in 2012 according to the policies of the new Government.

  3. 3. Myanmar is a signatory to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) (1997), and is committed to international policy initiatives to improve the situation of women, including the Millennium Declaration, the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BPfA), and the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD). The Association of South East Asia Nations (ASEAN) has established the ASEAN Commission on Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC), and the ASEAN Committee on Women (ACW), of which Myanmar is a member. Myanmar, as an active member of both Committees, has drafted this National Strategic Plan for the Advancement of Women based on the Constitution 2008, CEDAW and the 12 Priority Areas of the Beijing Platform for Action. 4 ed ' gef ; 1/ jynfaxmifpkor®wjrefrmEdkifiHawmftpdk;&? vlrI0efxrf;? u,fq,fa&;ESihf jyefvnf ae&mcsxm;a&; 0efBuD;Xmevufatmuf&dS vlrI0efxrf;OD;pD;Xmeonf uav;oli, frsm;? vli, frsm;? trsKd;orD;rsm;? roefpGrf;olrsm;ESihf oufBuD;&G,ftkdrsm;twGuf BudKwif umuG,fa&;? umuG,fapmifha&Smufa&;ESihf jyefvnfxlaxmifa&; vkyfief;pOfrsm;csrSwfí vlrI0efxrf;vkyfief;rsm;udk txl;tav;xm;aqmif&Gufvsuf &Sdygonf/ xdkoYkdaqmif&Guf &mwGif xdcdkufvG,faomtkyfpkrsm;udk vlrItodkif;t0dkif;twGif; jyefvnfaygif;pnf; jcif;enf;AsL[mrsm;udk tokH;jyKum aqmif&Gufvsuf&Sdygonf/ aemuf c HHHt aMumif ; t&m 2/ pwkw¬tBudrf trsKd;orD;a&;&m urÇmhnDvmcH (ab*sif; 1995) udk wufa&mufNyD; aemufwGif jynfaxmifpkor®w jrefrmEdkifiHawmftpdk;&onf trsKd;orD;rsm;\ zGHUNzdK; wdk;wufa&;udk wuf<upGm aqmif&GufEkdif&ef&nf&G,fí jrefrmEdkifiHvHk;qdkif&m trsKd;orD; a&;&maumfrwD (Myanmar National Committee for Women's Affairs - MNCWA) udk 1996 ckESpfwGif zGJUpnf;cJhNyD; vuf&dSumv EdkifiHawmf\ rl0g'rsm;ESihftnD tqdkygaumfrwD tm; 2012 ckESpf?
