"{,f. 2s- 1212oos-• -m1 1-TTJ~, .w:fq MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT AND FORESTS NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 3rd February, 2011 S.O. 289(E).-ln exercise of the powers conferred by Section 38 of the Biological Diversily Act, 2002 {18 of 2003), the Central Government, in consultation with the Government of Blhar, hereby notifies the species of plants and animals which are on the verge of extinction. as listed in column (2) of the Table below, for the State of Bihar, namely: Table SI.No. Name of the Plants (1) (2) 1 Chrvsooo/lon hamiltonii (Hook.f.) Haines Name of Animals 1 PTalinesta llan/lelica (Roxburgh, 180 I) 2 Gvns benllalensis (Gmelin, 1788) 3 Oohrvsia suverciliosa (Gray, 1846) 4 Rhodonessa carvophyl/acea (Latham, t 790) 5 Sarcornms caTvus (Scopoli, 1786) 6 Gavialis /lanf!eticus (Gmelin, 1789) 2. The collection of the species of plants and animals listed in column (2) of the Table shall be prohibited, except with the approval of the Bihar State Biodiversity Board only for the purposes mentioned below, namely: (a) scientific research; (b) herbarium and museum of scientific and academic institutions; (c) propagation; and (d) any other scientific investigation. The Blhar State Biodiversity Board shall undertake: (i) studies on all aspects of the notified species for holistic understanding; (ii) propagation of the notified s pecies for the purpose of in situ and ex situ conservation and rehabilitation; and (iii) awareness programmes and provide educational materials on notified species for forest department personnel, Biodiversity Management Committees, ecotourism programmes, and forest dwellers and tribals.
