WHEREAS the Governor is of the opinion that it would not be in the public interest to apply any of the provisions of the West Bengal Marine Fishing Regulation Act, 1993 (West Ben. Act IX of 1993) (hereinafter referred to as the said Act) to the fishing vessels of the Fishery Survey of India, Government of India, the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, Government of India, the National Institution of Oceanography, Government of India or any other research vessel engaged or appointed by the State Government or the Central Government, for the purpose of exploratory fisheries surveyor for the purpose of any fisheries or oceanographic research in the Bay of Bengal; Now, THEREFORE. in exercise of the power conferred by sub-section (2) of section 23 of the said Act, the Governor is pleased hereby to exempt the fishing vessels as aforesaid from the operation of all the provisions of the said Act. subject to the condition that the fishing in any specified area by using any of the aforesaid vessels does not affect the public interest and that necessary intimation shall be sent to the State Government prior to such fishing.
