Citation. This Order may be cited as the– NON-BIODEGRADABLE WASTE CONTROL (PLASTIC FOOD PRODUCTS) ORDER, 2019. 2. Definitions. In this Order– “Act” means the Non-Biodegradable Waste Control Act, No. 9 of 2018; “cutlery” means a fork, spoon, spork or knife; “food container” means a plate, cup, or glass; “plastic food product” means any single-use food container, cutlery, or straw, made of plastic and used in the sale or providing food for consumption, and excludes plastic bags. 3. Designation of plastic food products. For the purposes of the Act, a plastic food product is a non-biodegradable product. 4. Transitional provisions.—(1) Section 4 (1) of the Act shall apply with respect to plastic food products from the 1st day of March, 2020. (2) Section 5 (1) of the Act shall apply with respect to plastic food products from the 1st day of September, 2020. (3) Section 6 (1) of the Act shall apply with respect to plastic food products from the 1st day of March, 2021.
