[LEGAL NOTICE No. 22] GOVERNMENT OF FIJI (EXECUTIVE AUTHORITY OF FIJI DECREE 2009 (DECREE No.2)) MINISTERIAL ASSIGNMENT To: MrTimoci Lesi Natuva Minister for Works, Transport and Public Utilities WHEREAS His Excellency Josefa Iloilovatu Uluivuda, in exercise of the powers vested in him as President of the Republic of Fiji and Commander in Chief of the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces by the Executive Authority of Fiji Decree (Decree No.2) and on the advice of the Prime Minister, appointed you as the Minister for Works, Transport and Public Utilities with effect from the 11th day of April 2009 and assigned to you the responsibility for the conduct of the Government business and departments and the written laws specified in Legal Notice No.4 of 2009; AND WHEREAS the Office, powers and functions of the President of the Republic of Fiji and Commander in Chief of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces are now vested in His Excellency, Epeli Nailatikau ("the President") pursuant to section 3A of the Executive Authority of Fiji Decree 2009; AND WHEREAS, in exercise of the powers vested in me as President of the Republic of Fiji and Commander in Chief of the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces by the Executive Authority of Fiji (Amendment) Decree 2009 (Decree No. 28), I revoked with effect from the 1st day of January, 2010, all assignments of responsibilities under Legal Notice No. 4 of 2009, and with effect from the same day assigned to you as the Minister for Works, Transport and Public Utilities the responsibility for the conduct of the Government business and departments and the written laws specified in Legal Notice No. 61 of 2010; Now THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers vested in me as President of the Republic of Fiji and Commander in Chief of the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces by the Executive 138 Authority of Fiji (Amendment) Decree 2009 (Decree No. 28), I hereby revoke with effect from the 8th day of February, 20II, all assignments of responsibilities under Legal Notice No. 61 of 2010, and with effect from the same day assign to you in your current capacity as the Minister for Works, Transport and Public Utilities the responsibility for the conduct of the following Government business and departments and for the following written laws (subject to the provisions of any other laws) Business (a) Works Infrastructure Railway Services Registration of Architects andEngineers Roads, Buildings, (b) Transport Land Transport Railway Services Marine Services Road Safety Meteorology Shipbuilding Transport Planning (c) Public Utilities (Water and Energy) Biofuel Policy Development Conservation of Fuel Development of Energy Resources Electricity Supply [other than rural electrification] Energy Development Policy Fuel and Power Energy Measures Rural Electrification Water and Sewerage Water Rates Department Ministry ofWorks, Transport and Public Utilities Department of Transport Divisional Engineers Fiji Islands Maritime Safety Administration Fiji Meteorological Services Public Works Department Department of Energy Water Authority of Fiji (d) Responsibility for all written laws regulating the business of (a), (b) and (e) above, including in particular, the following Acts, Decrees and the subsidiary laws made thereunder Works and Transport Architects Act (Cap. 258) 139 Bicycles Act (Cap. 178) Collision Regulations (Ships and Sea Planes of Water) and signals of Distress (Ships) Order, 1965 Engineers Registration Act (Cap. 261) Land Transport Act 1998 Marine Act 1986 Motor Vehicles (Third Party Insurance Act) (Cap. 177) National Road Safety Council Act 1994 Petroleum Act (Cap. 190) Railways Act (Cap. 179) Roads Act (Cap. 175) Wreck and Salvage Act (Cap. 198) Public Utilities Electricity Act (Cap. 180) Sewerage Act (Cap. 128) Water Authority of Fiji Promulgation 2007 (Promulgation No. 25/09) Fiji National Petroleum Company Limited Decree 1991 Fuel and Power Emergency Act (Cap. 191) [Legal Notice No. 61 of 2010 is amended accordingly to reflect the shift of the Ports and Harbours from the Ministry for Works and Transport to the Ministry of Public Enterprises] Dated at Suva this 17th day of March 2011.
