Short Title These Regulations ma) be cited as the 11 'on-Governmental Organizations Remission Regulations-Legal ot1ce '\O. 83/2004 11 •

2. Definition s ln these Regulations. unless the context otherwise requires: 11 chief officer of customs II with respect to an area or place, means the manager of the customs office or customs offices that serve that area or place: 11 Minister II means the Minister of Finance.

3. Goods for Disti·ibution Remission is hereby granted of all the customs duties and taxes paid or payable on goods imported by on - Governmental Organizations authorized by the Eritrean Relief and Refugee Commission to participate in the relief rehabilitation and de, elopment act1v1t1es m Eritrea -t Application A on - Governmental Organization claiming remission of customs duties and ta'(es shall produce, together with the customs accounting document a letter of authorization from the Eritrean Relief and Refugee Comm1ss1on

5. Personal Goods An application authorized by the Eritrean Relief and Refugee Commission for the importation at free rates of customs duties and taxes of goods for personal use including motor vehicles, shall be made in writing to the chief officer of customs

6. A,ticles for Office Use 5 Office equipment, stationery and other supplies for use by the Non - Governmental Organizations in Eritrea shall be imported at free rates of duties and taxes.

7. Resale of goods imported duty and tax free Goods, including vehicles, imported duty and tax free whjch are sold or otherwise disposed of in Eritrea shall be duty and tax paid based on the value of the goods at the tin1e of resale or disposal.

8. Diversion Prior to diversion for other purposes of any goods for which a remission has been allowed under these Regulations, the importer shall report the facts to the Customs office concerned and shall pay any applicable customs duties and taxes.

9. Authority of Minister The Minister may give such instructions and directions as he deems necessary for the purpose of carrying o~t the provisions of these Regulations.
