Liverpool President 19 April, 2004 AN ACT TO AMEND THE CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETIES ACT NO. 15 OF 1996. (Gazetted 22nd April, 2004) BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Commonwealth of Dominica as follows: 1. This Act may be cited as the CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETIES (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2003. 2. In this Act “the Act” means the Co-operative Societies Act, 1996. Short title. Interpretation. Act No. 15 of 1996. LS 281 2003 CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETIES ACT 21 (AMENDMENT) 282 3. Section 5(2) of the Act is amended in paragraph (b) by inserting after the word “societies” the words “other than credit unions”. 4. The Act is amended by inserting the following new section immediately after section 5. 5A(1) Notwithstanding anything in any other provisions of this Act, the Minister responsible for Finance shall be responsible for the supervision of credit unions. (2) Where there is any conflict between subsection (1) and any other provisions of the Act or Regulations made under the Act, subsection (1) shall prevail.
