Title - This Act is the Territorial Sea and Exclusive Economie Zone Amendment Act 2012 and shall be read together with and deemed pmi of the Territorial Sea m1d Exclusive Economie Zone Act 1977 (herein referred to as "the principal Act"). 2. Commencement - This Act cames into force on the day it is assented to by the Queen' s Representative. 3. Interpretation - Section 2 of the principal Act is amended by inserting a new definition ""Contiguous zone" means the contiguous zone of the Cook Islands as described in section 7 A of the Act" 4. The contiguous zone - The principal Act is amended by inserting the following section: "7 A. The contiguous zone - The contiguous zone of the Cook Islands comprises those areas of the sea that are adjacent to and beyond the territorial sea of the Cook Islands, having as their outer limits a line measured seaward from the baseline described in section 5 ofthis Act, every point ofwhich line is a distance of24 nautical miles from the nearest point of the baseline."
