WILDLIFE ACT LOI SUR LA FAUNE BIRDS OF PREY REGULATIONS RÈGLEMENT SUR LES OISEAUX DE PROIE The Commissioner, on the recommendation of the Minister, under section 98 of the Wildlife Act and every enabling power, makes the Birds of Prey Regulations. The type of licence required, the wildlife management unit, zone or area and any other applicable restrictions to the capture of birds of prey are contained in the Schedule. 2. (1) The holder of a licence to capture wildlife who captures and possesses a gyrfalcon shall provide a shelter for the captured gyrfalcon. 5. No person shall set a trap to capture a gyrfalcon unless the trap is constantly attended by an adult. 7. A person who transports a live gyrfalcon shall transport it on a perch inside a well-ventilated plywood crate which (a) has walls at least 1.3 cm thick; (b) has external access for feeding the gyrfalcon that, when opened, will not allow the gyrfalcon to escape or harm the person; (c) has external handles for lifting the crate; (d) has spacer bars on the outside to prevent other cargo from being stacked too close to the crate; and (e) is conspicuously labelled with (i) "LIVE ANIMALS - DO NOT TIP" on the sides and the top, (ii) "THIS WAY UP" with arrows indicating the top, (iii) the name, address and telephone number of both the consignor and the consignee, (iv) a detailed list of the contents, including the number of gyrfalcons inside, the scientific and common 8. The total number of gyrfalcons that may be taken by holders of a licence to capture wildlife is 20 in each year. Notwithstanding the quota established for each zone, no more than 20 licences will be issued for the Territories. 2. The total number of gyrfalcons that may be taken by holders of wildlife research permits is five in each year. Notwithstanding the quota established for each unit, no more than five licences will be issued for the Territories.
