[CAP. 27:15 Veterinary Surgeons (Veterinary Laboratory Technologist) Regulations, 2002 IT is hereby notified that the Minister of Lands, Agriculture and Rural Resettlement has approved the fol1owing regulations made by the Council of Veterinary Surgeons in terms of section 48 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act lClwpter 27:15]: Title 1. These regulations may be cited as the Veterinary Surgeons (Veterinary Laboratory Technologist) Regulations, 2002. Register 2. The Registrar shall, mutatis mutandis, maintain a register of Veterinary Laboratory Technologists in terms of Part III of the Act. Qualifications of Veterinary Laboratory Technologists 3. The qualifications specified in the First Schedule shall, subject to the Act, qualify the holder thereof for registration on the register of Veterinary Laboratory Technologists. Duties of Veterinary Laboratory Technologists 4. A registered Veterinary Laboratory Technologist may per form the duties specified in the Second Schedule . . Direction and control 5. (b) Veterinary Laboratory Technologist (i) Part I and II (General) Diploma Examin;nions in Veterinary Laboratory Technology or the equivalent thereof plus, registration with Council of Veterinary Surgeons or Health Professions Council of Zimbabwe as a qualified Veterinary Labcratory Technologist; or ( ii) re lcvant Bachelor of Science Degree and po~t-qualification experience in excess of tvv·o years plus registr:ition \.Vith the Council of Veterinary Surgeon or Health Professions Council of Zimbabwe as a qualified Veterinary. Laboratory Technologi')t; (iii ) in addition to the qualifications detailed in (i) and (ii) above, an officer must have successfully completed the Part 111 Specialist Diploma Examination in Veterinary Laboratory Technology or its equivalent or a relevant Master Degree; (i\ ) credit may be given for relevant post qualification experience up to a maximum or four (4) years. SECOND SCHEDULE (Section 4) DUTIES OF A VETERINARY LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST ! . To perform diagnostic tests according to standard operating procedures. ' To develop and validate new diagnostic tests ensuring that all necessary quality standards are met. 3. To ensure the efficient performance of diagnostic tests through the proper use and maintenance of laboratory equipment and infrastructure. 4. To accurately record and report all results timeously. 5.
