These Regulations may be cited as the Cotton (Amendment) Reg ulations, 1997, and shall be read as one with the Cotton Regulations, 1215 No. 536 of 1995 "Levy for Research Funding SlIfes Tax (Remission) (MilII1l[;1III0 WlI Jumuiya ZlI WlI{lInYlIkllzi Tanzuniu) c.». No. 585 (UJIIltI.) 1995 herein referred to as the principal Regulations. 2. The principal Regulations are hereby amended: (a) in regulation 4 by deleting sub-regulation (2) of that regulation and substituting for it the fo\lowing sub-regulation "(2) Cotton seeds for planting sha\l be sold to farmers by cotton seed dealers;" (b) by deleting regulations 6 and 25; (c) in regulation 27: (i) by deleting that regulation and substituting for it the fo\low ing "27. Cotton lint exporters sha\l pay an export levy of zero point five percentum (0.5%) of FOB value to the Board to finance the Board. This rate may be reviewed by the Minister from time to time." (ii) by adding the following regulation immediately below reg ulation 27 27A. Every seed cotton buyer shall pay towards research funding the sum of Tanzania shillings zero point five (0.5) for every kilogramme of seed cotton purchased.
