GoVERNMENT NOTICE No. 270 published on 14/7//2000 THE COFFEE MARKETING BOARD ACT, 1984 (No. 18 OF 1984) DIRECTIONS Under section 4(2) THE COFFEE MARKETING (KAGERA REGION) DIRECTIONS, 2000 WHEREAS section 4(2) of the Coffee Marketing Board Act, 1984, empowers the Minister to give any specific or general directions to the Coffee Marketing Board for implementation by it in the course of dis charging its functions in relation to licensing buyers and ex~orters of coffee, among other functions: AND WHEREAS the public interest requires that the Karagwe District Co-operative Union (KDCU) and the Kagera Co-operative Union (KCU) be assisted to build up their revenues so as to be able to pay their current debts: Now TIIBREFORE, I, W1LUAM J. Kus1u., Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives, do hereby direct as follows: l. These Directions may be cited as the Coffee Marketing (Kagera Region) Directions, 2000. 2. These Directions shall be deemed to have been issued on the 27th June, 2000. 3. It is hereby directed that for the whole of the coffee buying sea son' (a) the Coffee Marketing Board shall not license any individual buyer or exporter of coffee in relation to coffee originating in specified Kagera Unions; (b) the coffee in Muleba, Bukoba Rural, Bukoba Urban and Karagwe Districts shall be sold by farmers only to the Kagera Cooperatives Societies or to the specified Kagera Unions 4. For the purposes.of these Directions "coffee buying seasons" means the period between 17th day of June, 2000 and 31st day of May, 2001; "Kagera Cooperative Societies" means each of the cooperative societies specified in the Schedule to these Directions; "$pecified Kagera Unions" means the--!(aragwe District Coopera tive Union and the Kagera Cooperative Union.
