B 151 Suppliment tal-Gazzetta tal-Gvern ta’ Malta Nru. 19,716, 24 ta’ Jannar, 2017 Taqsima B B 151 L.N. 27 of 2017 PRODUCT SAFETY ACT (CAP. 427) Export and Import of Hazardous Chemicals Regulations, 2017 IN exercise of the powers conferred by article 39 of the Product Safety Act, the Minister for Social Dialogue, Consumer Affairs and Civil Liberties, on the advice of the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority, has made the following regulations: Citation.1. The title of these regulations is the Export and Import of Hazardous Chemicals Regulations, 2017. Scope.2. These regulations implement the provisions of Regulation (EC) No. 649/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 4 July 2012 concerning the export and import of hazardous chemicals, hereinafter referred to as "the EC Regulation". Interpretation.3. For the purposes of the EC Regulation, "the competent authority" means the Technical Regulatory Directorate (TRD) within Malta Consumer and Competition Authority (MCCAA). Penalties.4. The penalties applicable for infringement of the provisions of the EC Regulation shall be those provided for in the Product Safety Act, Part IV. Revokes the Export and Imports of Certain Dangerous Chemicals Regulations, 2002. L.N. 327 of 2002. 5. The Export and Imports of Certain Dangerous Chemicals Regulations, 2002, are hereby revoked without prejudice to anything done or omitted to be done thereunder.
