AN ACT TO AMEND THE SR/LANKA TEA BOARD LAW, No. 14 OF 1975 BE it enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows : 1. This Act may be cited as the Sri Lanka Tea Board (Amendment) Act, No. 17 of 1985. 2. Se&ion 6 of the Sri Lanka Tea Board Law, No. 14 of 1075 (hereinafter referred to as the" principal enactment") is hereby amended by the repeal of subsection (1) thereof and the substitution therefor of the following subsection: Constitution 6. (1) The Board shall consist of of the Board. (a) a Chairman nominated by the Minis ter with the concurrence of the Prime Minister who shall be the chief executive of the Board ; (b) the person holding office for the time being as Secretary to the Ministry in charge of the subject of Planning, or any Senior Officer of that Minis try nominated by the Minister in charge of that Ministry; (c) the person holding office for the time being as Secretary to the Ministry in charge of the subject of Finance, or any Senior Officer of that Minis try nominated by the Minister in charge of that Ministry ; (d) the person holding office for the time being as Secretary to the Ministry in charge of the subject of Planta tion Industries, or any Senior Officer of that Ministry nominated by the Minister in charge of that Ministry ; ( e) the person holding office for the time being as Secretary to the Ministry in charge of the subject of Trade, or any Senior Officer of that, Ministry nominated by the Minister in charge of that Ministry ; Short title. Sri Lan/ca Tea Board (Amendment) Act; N~ 17 o/1985 (f) the person holding office for the time being as Secretary to the Ministry in charge of the subject of Shipping or any Senior Officer of that Minis try nominated by the Mimster in charge of that Ministry ; (g) the person holding office for the tima being as the Director of Commerce ; (h) the person holding office for the tims being as the Chairman of the Jana• tha Estates Development Board ; (i) the person holding office for the time being as the Chairman of the State Plantations Corporation ; (j) the person holding office for the time being as the Chairman of the Tea Small Holdings Development Autho rity ; (k) the person holding office for the time being as the Chairman of the Export Development Board ; and (I) five other members nominated by the Minister with the concurrence of the Prime Minister from among persons who have a knowledge of, and expe rience in, the tea industry with special reference to planting, manu facture, sale, export and finance.". 3. Section 23 of the principal enactment is hereby repealed and the following section substituted therefor: " Pi"<'visions relating to j)ersonstn receipt of pension-s..ian~ em~loveoby the Board.· 23. Section 24 of the principal enactment is hereby Repla~emer1t of section 24 repealed and the following section substituted therefor: - of.the 1 1 J)l~C pa enactment. 11 0ffence. 24. Every person who is guilty of an offence under this Act shall, on conviction after summary trial before a Magistrate, be a liable to a fine not exceeding fifty thousand rupees or to imprisonment of either descrip tion for a period not exceeding one year, or to both such fine and imprisonment, notwith standing that 'the tie exceeds the amount of fine which a Magistrate may impose in the exercise of his ordinary jurisdiction. ". 5.
