[-q;i, .i. 2X I ' :!U(h "::irn:i Ill) ~ w:i ~ ~ S.O. 26l2(E).- In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 38 of the Biological Divers ity Act, 2'002 ( 18 of 2003), the Central Government, in consultation \\ith the Administration of Andaman & Nicobar Is lands, hereby notifies the species of plants and animals which are on the verge of extinction, as listed in column (2) of the Table be(O\\. f~ the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, namely: TABLE SI.No. Name of the Plants I (I) (2) I I Artabotrvs nicobarianus D. The collection of the species of plants and animals listed in column (2) of the Table shall be prohibited, except with the approval of the Administration of Andaman & Nicobar lslands ool) for the purposes mentioned below, namely: (a) scientific research; (b) herbarium and museum of scientific and academic institutions; (c) propagation; and (d) any other scientific investigation [ 'WT 11- "&1'5 3(ii) l 3. The Administration of Andaman & Nicobar Islands shall undertake: (i) studies on all aspects of the notified species for holistic understanding; (ii) propagation of the notified species for the purpose of in situ and ex situ conservation and rehabilitation; and (iii)awareness programmes and provide educational materials on ootified species for forest department personnel, Biodiversity Management Committees, ecotourism programmes, and forest dwellers and tribals.
