W E L S H S T A T U T O R Y I N S T R U M E N T S NATURE CONSERVATION, WALES The Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009 (Commencement and Consequential Provisions) (Wales) Order 2014 EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the Order) This Order, which applies in relation to Wales and the Welsh inshore region, brings into force certain provisions of the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009 (“the 2009 Act”). Article 2 brings into force Chapter 1 of Part 5 of the 2009 Act so far as relating to marine conservation zones in Wales (sections 116 to 128 and 134 to 147) and Chapter 2 of that Part relating to other conservation sites (section 148). Article 2 brings into force the associated Schedules to Part 5 of the 2009 Act including consequential amendments, transitional provisions and repeals. Title, commencement, application and interpretation 1.—(1) The title of this Order is the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009 (Commencement and Consequential Provisions) (Wales) Order 2014. (2) This Order comes into force on 12 December 2014. (3) This Order applies in relation to Wales and the Welsh inshore region. (4) In this Order the “Welsh inshore region” (“rhanbarth glannau Cymru”) has the meaning given by section 322(1) of the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009.
