A PROCLAMATION TO RATIFY THE INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION ON CIVIL LIABILITY FOR BUNKER OIL POLLUTION DAMAGE WHEREAS, an International Convention on Civil Liability for Bunker Oil Pollution Damage has been adopted by the International Maritime Organization in 2001; WHEREAS, the House of Peoples’ Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has ratified the said Convention at its session held on the 1st day of January, 2009; NOW, THEREFORE, in accordance with Article 55 (1) and (12) of the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia it is hereby proclaimed as follows: 1. Ratification of the Convention The Convention on Civil Liability for Bunker Oil Pollution Damage adopted in 2001, by the International Maritime Organization is hereby ratified. 3. Responsibility of the Ministry of Transport and Communications The Ministry of Transport and Communications is hereby authorized to undertake, in cooperation with the concerned governmental organs, all acts necessary for the implementation of the Convention. 4. Effective Date This Proclamation shall enter into force up on the date of publication in the Federal Negarit Gazeta.
