Decree No. 383 of 2005 adopting precautionary measures to avoid the infection of bird flu disease

Ministerial Decree Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries 1 Ministerial Decree No (383) of the year 2005 On Adopting Precautionary Measures to Avoid the Infection of Birds Flu in the Country The Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries After pursuant the provisions of the Federal Law No (1) of the year 1972 on the functions of the Ministries and the powers vested upon the Ministers and the laws issued in amendment thereof, And the Federal Law No (6) of the year 1979 on Veterinary Quarantine and the laws issued in amendment thereof, And the Cabinet Decision No(18) 0f the year 2004 on the Organizational Structure of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, And the Ministerial Decree No(460) 0f the year 2001 on the Executive By-law of the veterinary quarantine system in the GCC countries, And in reliant on the recommendations of the International Organization for Animal Health (OIE) and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) concerning Birds Flu Disease which can be transmitted to man in addition to the role of the immigrant birds in to spread the disease. And upon the necessities of the public interest Has decided the following: Ministerial Decree Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries 2 Article (1) Importation of all species of wild Aquatic birds, their products and their offal shall be temporarily prohibited until further notice. Article (2) Importation of all species of wild birds including ornamental birds, their products and their offal shall be temporarily prohibited from all Asian countries until further notice. Article (3) All imported consignments of live poultry and their products from Asian countries shall be accompanied by veterinary health certificate issued by an accredited laboratory which states that these consignments have already been examined to ascertain that they are free from Birds Flu Disease within fifteen days before shipping. Article (4) Animal Wealth Department shall coordinate with the concerned authorities in the country to implement the provisions of this decree. Ministerial Decree Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries 3 Article (5) All the concerned bodies shall act to implement the provisions of this Decree in accordance with their jurisdiction and shall be enforced as from the date of its issuance and to be published in the official Gazette.
